Do you know what type of faucet you have?

There are many different types of faucets and when it comes to repairing or replacing a faucet it is best to know which kind you currently have. The most common types of faucets on the market are compression, disc, cartridge and ball faucets. For the next couple of weeks we are going to go into depth educating you on the ins and outs of these faucets.

First let’s start with compression faucets. Compression faucets, one of the earliest faucets available, are found in a lot of older homes. This type of faucet uses two handles, hot and cold, and uses a washer that when compressed (hence the name) turns off the water flow. When the rubber washer is worn out, which can be quite frequent, it might cause the faucet to drip and leak.
