Let’s be honest water heater problems are usually self-evident. You may turn on the faucet for hot water, yet no hot water comes out or maybe you hear a thumping sound coming from the water heater. Either way, you have a problem on your hands and I don’t know anyone that likes a cold shower!

So, what are you to do when this happens? There are a couple basic steps you can take to minimize any damage before calling Rescue Rooter to complete a full detailed assessment of the damage and repair.

  • First and foremost, never work on an electric water heater if there is standing water pooled on the floor near the appliance. Shut off the circuit to the water heater and call Rescue Rooter right away. If your heater is gas powered, turn the gas to “pilot” on the control valve.
  • No matter the type of water heater, shut off the water supply to the water heater to minimize further leaking.
