Galvanized pipes are weaker than others, so it’s not a good idea to use a drain snake. Galvanized pipes inevitably rust because they are only coated with steel, and once that steel is gone, the iron piping underneath rusts. The snake can further cause the coating and/or the piping and make the clog even worse! Your best bet is to use a different material for your pipes.
