Happy first day of spring everyone! It’s not only time for warmer weather, but it’s time to get ready for springtime plumbing as well. Well, not necessarily you doing the plumbing, but having a Rescue Rooter representative come and do it for you.

What better time to do this than during Fix A Leak Week? There isn’t a better time! In a single home, a leaky faucet or leaky toilet can waste thousands of gallons of water each year. Nationwide that adds up to more than 1 trillion gallons of water leaks in home plumbing systems annually. To find out whether you have a leak in your home during this Fix A Leak Week, select a two-hour period when no water is being used. If your water meter registers a change from the beginning to the end of that period it’s safe to assume you have a leak somewhere.

You can also use a drop of food coloring in the tank of your toilet to detect any leaks. If you see the color in the toilet bowl and you haven’t flushed, you guessed it, your toilet is leaking.
